Description
The holiday flat "Haus Kalli" is located on the edge of the southern Harz/Lower Saxony, in the monastery town of Walkenried, right on the border with Thuringia.
The spacious 122sqm holiday flat consists of two bedrooms, (bedroom 1 = 1 double bed, 1.60m x 2.00m, bedroom 2 = 2 single beds, 0.90m x 2.00m) as well as a large living/dining room with an additional sleeping accommodation, (double sofa bed, 1.40m x 2.00m), a kitchen with dining area, a bathroom/WC with shower, bathtub, washbasin and washing machine, a storage room, as well as a balcony, accessible separately from bedrooms 1+2 and a covered loggia, accessible from the living/dining room. The flat on the upper floor is accessible via a staircase.
A balcony and a covered loggia, as well as 1 or 2 car or motorbike parking spaces, as required, are also available free of charge. A barbecue can be used by prior arrangement. Access to the car park is via Ellricher-Str. directly at the traffic light pedestrian crossing in front of the house.
Free WLan as well as a travel cot and a high chair for children can be used. A supermarket (NORMA) within sight of the holiday flat 2 min. walk for everyday shopping is available.
"BIKERS" are very welcome in "Haus Kalli". On request, guided motorbike tours through the Harz Mountains or the surrounding area can be arranged on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays.
Barbecue evenings can be organised by arrangement.
The special features of the monastery town of Walkenried are the Cistercian monastery with its world culture information centre. A variety of hiking and cycling trails, fishing opportunities at a variety of natural ponds in the immediate vicinity of the village, which are also within walking distance. In the centre of the village there are further shopping facilities such as a bakery, butcher, pharmacy, kiosk, banks with ATMs, petrol station, doctors and a Croatian restaurant. A monastery café and a cosy restaurant with good home-style cooking, a pizzeria (open from Wednesday to Sunday, reservation highly recommended) are located in the direct monastery area, also known as the lower monastery. Further attractions can be found in the neighbouring town of Bad Sachsa, approx. 5-6 km away. An indoor climbing hall with burger restaurant and café, an adventure pool with water slide, a bird of prey park and a variety of restaurants and cafés can be found here. There are many other attractions within a radius of 30-60 km in the direction of the Upper Harz on both sides of the state borders of Lower Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt, such as the western town of "Pullmann City" in Hasselfelde, the Brocken railway with steam locomotive and the suspension bridge at the Rappode dam. The Harz town of Braunlage, approx. 20 minutes away by car, is the starting point for hikes up the Wurmberg. Cafés, restaurants, ice cream parlours and many shops and much more invite you to take a leisurely stroll through the town. It is well worth exploring the Harz Mountains here. The annual monastery concerts are very popular and are held either in the cloister of the Cistercian monastery or in the inner courtyard of the monastery, depending on the weather. Well-known artists and actors known from radio and television perform here.
