Tips from owner:
The village of Thézan les Beziers is a real place to relax away from the crowds and experience authentic France. It has a lovely restaurant in the village square, where the food is delicious and the welcome very friendly and relaxed and a little market outside the Mairie on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A few minutes walk away there is a great shopping area with a superb butcher, who makes wonderful charcuterie, Super U for those household necessities, and a host of other shops and restaurants including a great pizzeria. There is also a tennis club where you can pay by the session to play.
You really must try all the village vineyards and local producers. There are too many to list here but pop down to Jean Senquerie's vineyard at the entrance to the village with an empty water bottle and he will fill it up with red, white , rose or even Muscat 'en vrac'. He also has a little farm shop with local produce, which is not to be missed. In the next village is our favourite organic vinyard, Chateau Coujan which also has peacocks and olive oil and is a great experience for degustation.
The many beaches are about 25 minutes drive away, our favourite is Vendres Port which is very quiet and unspoilt, and also where the fishermen sell direct. A 10 minute drive through the Murviel, in the opposite direction, will take you to a lovely river beach at Reals where you can swim, jump off rocks, canoe, fish and picnic or you can go on another 15 minutes to the picturesque mountain town of Roquebrun and see the houses cut into the hillside as you swim or hire a canoe. The mountains of the Haut Languedoc are also a mere 25 minutes away. Interesting towns abound, medieval Pezenas is well worth a visit as it is full of brocantes, restaurants and artisans craftsmen and of course you have the ancient cities of Beziers, Carcasonne and Montpellier all within an hour's drive.
The area is full of vineyards, towns, beaches, cathar castles and wonderful things to see and do but we always end up sitting on the terrace in the warm evening over a long french meal with some delicious wine feeling full, happy and totally relaxed. We have tried to make it a home from home, we hope you have a wonderful time.
