The Salzkammergut area is known for its numerous tourist attractions such as salt mines, ice caves, the emperor Franz Joseph’s imperial villa in Bad Ischl (“Kaiservilla”) and many museums. The famous Benedictine monastery of Admont with the world’s largest baroque library, a museum and a modern art gallery is only a little more than an hour away. Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage site perched on the mountainside at lake Hallstatt, is a 20-minute drive from the villa.
